Ministry of Education Oman Launches AI-Powered Classroom Transformation supported by Microsoft

Muscat, Oman – 10 September 2025 – The Ministry of Education (MoE) in Oman today announced the deployment of 4,000 Microsoft 365 Copilot licenses across public schools in the Sultanate. The announcement was made during COMEX 2025, reinforcing the Ministry’s commitment to reimagining the future of education through artificial intelligence.

The roll out is set to empower teachers with intelligent tools for planning, grading, and content creation freeing up time for deeper student engagement and personalized instruction. It will also provide students with interactive learning experiences that enhance critical thinking, collaboration, and digital fluency skills vital for success in tomorrow’s workforce. School leaders and administrators will also gain data-driven insights to monitor performance, streamline collaboration, and scale innovation across the education system.

Aligned with Oman Vision 2040, the program advances the nation’s goal of building a knowledge-based society. The nationwide rollout spans both urban and rural schools, ensuring equitable access to AI-powered tools for all students and educators.

Ali Al Ghadani, Deputy Director of the Applied Science Department for IT, Ministry of Education, said: “This initiative marks a turning point for education in Oman and a clear demonstration of our commitment to building a knowledge-based society under Vision 2040. By deploying Microsoft 365 AI Copilot at scale across public schools, we are empowering our teachers with intelligent tools that free their time to focus on creativity, innovation, and student engagement. At the same time, we are giving our young people access to personalized, interactive learning experiences that sharpen critical thinking, collaboration, and digital fluency. These skills will define success in tomorrow’s workforce.

Sheikh Saif Hilal Al Hosni, Country Manager, Microsoft Oman and Bahrain, said: “This is not simply about adopting technology; it is about transforming education to ensure every student, whether in Muscat or the most remote rural community, has the opportunity to thrive in an AI-powered world. By taking this step, Oman is positioning itself as a pioneer in digital learning transformation in the region.”

Building on a foundation laid over several years, this initiative follows the five-year Digital Transformation partnership signed in 2020, where Microsoft supported teacher training, blended learning models and DigiGirlz. ?It also builds on MoE’s commitment to equitable digital access, seen during the COVID19 pandemic when, in partnership with Microsoft, the ministry extended remote learning technologies to around 75% of schools. Most recently, Microsoft’s AI Tour in Muscat recognized the Ministry of Education’s leadership in educational innovation including the deployment of an AI-powered chatbot further reflecting the growing role of AI in modernizing school experiences.

This announcement comes as part of Microsoft’s participation at COMEX 2025, where the company is demonstrating how trusted AI, powered by Microsoft’s global cloud platform, is already helping public and private sector organizations across Oman unlock new levels of innovation, productivity, and inclusive growth.
